Pre-Term Labor

Some of you already know this, but at 25 weeks (and our 2nd wedding anniversary - April 29th), I spent a night in the hospital. I felt bad that day and the day before, but we had had a busy weekend and I just thought I was tired and needed to rest. When I lay on the couch that night, I noticed that the uncomfortable tightening was happening every 8 minutes. I read on the internet, talked to Mike and my mom, and finally called my doctor who told me to go straight to the hospital and she would call and let them know I was coming. It was a little scary, but God gave Mike and I both such peace through the whole process. Mike prayed for us in the car on the way to the hospital and was so encouraging through it all. After getting me in a bed and attached to an external fetal monitor, it was confirmed that I was having contractions. They gave me 3 shots every 15 minutes of Terbutaline (which made my heart race to 130 bpm!) then kept me overnight to take the same thing orally. I thankfully never dilated and got to go home the next morning. I was on bedrest that day and limited activity for about 2 weeks. We already had a babymoon vacation planned for part of that time, so that was good. I have learned to take it easy and not push myself like I usually do, which is hard for the busybody in me. God is teaching me some good lessons on being still and being quiet with Him. Thankfully, I have been fine since and look forward to a full term baby!

I'm sorry to hear about this scare, but I'm so glad that you were able to get treated quickly and had peace throughout. I'll continue to pray for a healthy pregnancy and delivery.
